Best Desert Golf Courses
Our journey to epic desert golf destinations begins at one of the most famous courses on the PGA TOUR, The Stadium Course at TPC Scottsdale. World-renowned as the host of the Greatest Show on Grass, The Stadium Course greets golfers 52 weeks of the year with PGA TOUR caliber conditions and a unique desert design that’s framed perfectly by Saguaro cacti and Palo Verde trees.
Staying in the Scottsdale area, Quintero Golf Club is one of the more unique layouts one will ever play. Huge elevation changes meet even bigger views at this Peoria, Arizona gem, and Rees Jones fans will absolutely love the simple ingenuity in Quintero’s course design for nothing is quite as it appears at this amazing track.
Our third stop brings us to northern Arizona, Sedona Golf Resort and some of the most sensational views in the Southwest. For four straight hours, golfers are enchanted by 6700 yards of perfect rolling green fairways set against glowing red rocks. And if you’re a fan of photo opportunities, the signature 10th hole rivals some of the best in the world.
Great desert golf exists in Utah too, and Coral Canyon Golf Course is a must play for locals and visitors alike. Located just outside of St. George, Utah, Coral Canyon features such amazing views of Bryce Canyon and Zion National Park that some golfers have to be reminded that they are there to hit the ball!
Sensory overload is a great segue to Reflection Bay Golf Club in Las Vegas. Designed by Jack Nicklaus, Reflection Bay features several challenging holes and memorable lake vistas that perfectly represent the course’s name. Far enough away from the strip to forget that it’s there, but close enough to entertain the idea after a great round, Reflection Bay truly has something for everyone.
Let’s not forget about all the amazing desert courses in the Palm Springs / Palm Desert area in Southern California. Marriott’s Shadow Ridge Golf Club is particularly impressive, and if you play the course in the “winter” you’ll have the cool sensation of seeing snow-capped mountains while you’re playing golf in shorts. Designed by Sir Nick Faldo, Shadow Ridge is inspired by sand-belt courses in Australia and it features some of the most unique bunker structures you’ll ever play.
